O novo presidente do Banco Nacional do Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES), Joaquim Levy, recebeu o cargo hoje (8) de seu antecessor, Dyogo Oliveira, em cerimônia realizada na sede da instituição, no Rio de Janeiro. Em discurso para uma plateia formada, em sua maioria, por representantes de instituições financeiras, Levy defendeu parcerias com a iniciativa privada e o fortalecimento das empresas médias.
“Não há país com uma livre iniciativa forte que não tenha empresas médias fortes. Na verdade, historicamente, é uma vulnerabilidade do Brasil não ter um setor de empresas médias e pequenas, mas principalmente médias fortes e com capacidade de crescer e criar emprego, desenvolver e incorporar novas tecnologias”, disse Levy. Para ele, este é um desafio e um mercado para o BNDES atuar.
Ao comentar a necessidade de investir em infraestrutura, Levy destacou que o maior desafio do país hoje nesse setor é ter um fluxo de projetos sólidos e eficientes. “E esse é o papel do BNDES, trabalhando com o governo, auxiliando no desenvolvimento dos projetos, na modelagem. E depois financiando não só com o nosso funding, mas junto com a iniciativa privada.”
O economista defendeu ainda que os portais do BNDES sejam mais amigáveis e acessíveis no modo de apresentar as informações ao cidadão. “Também vamos ter que reformar e repensar o nosso balanço. Temos que usar nossas fortalezas financeiras e nossos ativos de modo mais inteligente de tal maneira que possamos juntar forças com o setor privado tanto na área de infraestrutura como nas áreas para a média empresa e tecnologia que são essenciais para aumentar a produtividade do nosso país.”
Ao deixar o cargo, Dyogo Oliveira deixou uma mensagem de otimismo para a gestão de Joaquim Levy e afirmou que o Brasil vive uma nova oportunidade de se recriar e recuperar a respeitabilidade no cenário internacional. Segundo Oliveira, o banco, assim como o país, atravessou um período de dificuldades e tempestades.
“O BNDES continuará sendo uma grande instituição brasileira. Poucos países têm a honra e o orgulho de ter uma instituição com a capacidade técnica e operacional que o BNDES tem”, disse Oliveira. Ele ressaltou que muitos erros atribuídos ao BNDES no passado não foram culpa de seu corpo técnico. “Os equívocos que foram cometidos, em sua enorme maioria, quase a totalidade, foram equívocos de motivação política.”
