O Conselho de Controle de Atividades Financeiras (Coaf) foi transferido do extinto Ministério da Fazenda para o Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública. A alteração está na medida provisória (MP) nº 870, divulgada na noite desta terça-feira (1º), em edição extra do Diário Oficial da União. A medida provisória trouxe a organização dos órgãos da Presidência da República e dos ministérios.
Além da MP, hoje (2), um decreto com o estatuto do Coaf foi publicado com o conselho integrando o Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública.
O Coaf é responsável por ações de inteligência para prevenir a lavagem de dinheiro, ocultação de patrimônio e o financiamento do terrorismo. O Coaf recebe, examina e identifica ocorrências suspeitas de atividade ilícita e comunica às autoridades competentes.
Na MP, ficou definido que o presidente do Coaf será indicado pelo ministro de Estado da Justiça e Segurança Pública, Sérgio Moro, e nomeado pelo presidente da República, Jair Bolsonaro.
Em outros decretos publicados hoje no Diário Oficial da União, Bolsonaro exonerou o atual presidente do Coaf, Antônio Carlos Ferreira de Sousa, e nomeou Roberto Leonel de Oliveira Lima para o cargo. Lima é auditor-fiscal da Receita Federal a atuava na força-tarefa da Operação Lava Jato.
