O juiz federal Sergio Moro, que comanda as investigações da Operação Lava Jato, aceitou nesta quinta-feira (1º) o convite do presidente eleito Jair Bolsonaro e será o ministro da Justiça. O anúncio foi feito por Moro, em nota. “Após reunião pessoal, na qual foram discutidas políticas para a pasta, aceitei o honrado convite”,afirmou.
O presidente eleito, Jair Bolsonaro, confirmou o nome de Moro no ministério. “Sua agenda anticorrupção, anticrime organizado, bem como o respeito à Constituição e às leis será o nosso norte”, escreveu o presidente eleito. Em suas redes sociais, Bolsonaro anunciou a fusão das pastas da Justiça e da Segurança Pública.
Sergio Moro ficou cerca de uma hora e meia com o presidente eleito. Ao sair da reunião, acenou para as pessoas que se aglomeravam em frente à casa, mas não deu entrevista.
O juiz lamentou abandonar 22 anos de magistratura. “No entanto, a perspectiva de implementar uma forte agenda anticorrupção e anticrime organizado, com respeito à Constituição, à lei e aos direitos, levaram-me a tomar esta decisão. Para ele, na prática o cargo significa “consolidar os avanços contra o crime e a corrupção e afastar riscos de retrocessos por um bem maior”.
Segundo Moro, a Operação Lava Jato continuará em Curitiba. “Para evitar controvérsias desnecessárias, devo, desde logo, afastar-me de novas audiências, acrescentou.
Natural de Maringá (PR), Sergio Fernando Moro, além de magistrado é escritor e professor universitário. Graduado em Direito pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá, tem mestrado e doutorado pela Universidade Federal do Paraná. É juiz federal desde 1996, com especialização em crimes financeiros.
No julgamento do mensalão, Moro auxiliou a ministra Rosa Weber, no Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF).
