A decisão foi tomada em uma reunião na manhã deste domingo (29.07), diante da negativa do STJ (Superior Tribunal de Justiça) em conceder liminar para soltar André Puccinelli, preso pela segunda com desdobramento da Operação Lama Asfáltica, o entendimento dos emedebistas é que insistir numa candidatura do ex-governador não faz mais sentido. Simone foi considerada o melhor nome, depois de já ter sido avaliada, também, a candidatura do presidente da Assembleia Legislativa, o deputado estadual Junior Mochi.
A senadora deve reunir o partido para uma reunião e inicia as negociações para a montagem da chapa. Seu nome será levado à convenção do partido, marcada para o próximo sábado (4) em Campo Grande.
